This might seem like an odd thing to do, but its the way I've worked in other programs and I am comfortable working this way. I realize I could just import the image, but evidently that slows things down. I figured in doing this, I could then later, use specific tiles for layering for the player to walk behind. If someone could please assist me, I would greatly appreciate it.īefore I answer your questions, I want to point out that I have zero interest in the 'auto-tile' feature.Įssentially I am drawing a map, then cutting it into sections, and pasting the entire image into the map. png files with MS Paint instead of photoshop to remove any kind of transparency that might be goofing up RPG Maker, and it is still black. My tiles are 48 by 48 and I made an event that autoruns as a fade in just to make sure I didn't somehow goof that up, it's still black.Īs a test, I resaved my. I also made a map with the default tiles as a test and it worked fine, just not with my tiles. I have also started a new project, copied all my files and I have the same problem. I sat through a 5 hour tutorial on YouTube, I read the tutorial file that comes with the program and I've googled many many different versions of this problem to no avail. I've imported my own tiles that I edited in Photoshop over many, many hours, and RPG Maker uses them okay, but when I test it in game, it runs the stock intro etc, but after I select new game, it loads my map but everything is black except the player.
